Robert Edward Whitmore (1938-2017)
Born in Sharon, Ohio in 1938. Robert Whitmore lived most of his life in Indianapolis, Indiana and Park County, Indiana with his wife Becky.
A nephew of the Western Indiana artist W.T. Turman, Bob followed a family tradition of art appreciation and talent. Trained at the John Herron Institute of Art, and the School of Fine Art at Indiana University, he produced a large body of work from the early 1960's to his death in 2017. While teaching Art at Washington High School in Indianapolis, he also continued to create in ceramics, sculpture, drawing and watercolor.
Bob was affiliated with the Rockville Gallery in Rockville, Indiana. This is only a portion of his body of work. His family continues to document his work and have more than 200 pieces known to be collected by individuals outside of his family.
